Canon EF-S lens

The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM ultra wide-angle focal length is the largest Canon may, in its current EF / EF-S series of lenses. Wide an understatement. A lens 10mm APS-C size sensor camera would be the same equivalent field of view would be a 16 mm lens when used on a 35mm SLR or full frame DSLR. The 10-22 is the camera is raised to a 1.6 x 16-35mm lens.

For someTime has a real wide angle lens and not by photographers with an APS-C size sensor of the Canon camera. The next target will be a 14mm prime, but probably not within the average user. The next most likely option would be the Canon 16-35mm or 17-55mm zoom. Even then the equivalent field of view would be only about 26mm. Insert the 10-22.

Wide-angle lensesin different niches photo of inestimable value. You have to really prove their value in landscape photography in particular. No other class has the ability of the lens, the magnificent view of Mother Nature in order to understand better. You can see from dawn to sunset. No other set of lenses makes the picture less "stuff" to grasp. They are also used in both architectural photography, which shine in the detection of internal and external. Real estate agent fall in love with theAbility to show all internal house in one shot. Wide-angle lenses can also be very useful for photographers seek out the creative side of the record. The natural distortion with the wide field of view involved in creating some very unusual changes of perspective in everyday objects.

First, note the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens is very well done. It does not feel "cheap" which is sometimes found in some other Canon lenses. The attention and the removal of the controls work properly. The lens focuses reached fairly quickly, and also silent thanks to the use of a ring-type USM focus motor. You may also find that the lens does not rotate during focusing or an extension or when adjusting the focal length. This is important because you can use a circular polarizer with this objective, even if you can see a slight vignetting, if you do not use, choose a slim polarizer. In most cases this should not beProblem.

I was rather surprised by the overall image quality of the EF-S 10-22. For most images are sharp and clear on most of the zoom range. There is a remarkably small amount of blur to 11mm. Makes it clear, though not offensive to 10mm. Center sharpness remains constant during the filming open or locked down, although it is the least amount of blur in the corners at all focal length lensArea.

I also expected the distortion is a problem with this objective, as for many other wide-angle lenses, but was never really that clear. There is a small amount of barrel distortion at wide angle, usually 10mm. There are even less pincushion distortion at 22mm. 12mm-20mm, there is very little distortion of any kind, this is very unusual for a wide angle lens. Equally surprising, chromatic aberration was not a problem. There was a lackCA obvious to 22mm. At 10mm, which was the smallest amount that was found could easily be cleaned with Photoshop.

Flare can be a problem with wide-angle lenses, the physical structure of the lens. With a field of view that exceeds 107 degrees at 10mm, it is likely that a certain degree of flare from the sun or other light sources are. The EF-S 10-22 does a good job in controlling lens flare, but for best results ever, use the EW-83EHood, which includes, unfortunately, not only for their Glass Canon "L" quality.

Overall this is an impressive wide-angle lens. The EF-S 10-22mm would be consistent with most other Canon glass on top, and professional quality of the final optical performance. One of the drawbacks I can find is only apparent leakiness of the time, and perhaps also the lack of a hood and carrying case included. In all honesty, the Canon EF-SF/3.5-4.5 USM 10-22mm ultra wide-angle should be an "L". I recommend it for every request, wide-angle photography.
